Canada Day is always a great reason to spend time outdoors with loved ones but this year will be particularly special with the 150th anniversary celebrations. The abundance of family friendly activities are one of the many things that make Okotoks such a great place to live and Canada Day is the perfect time to explore all the community has to offer. Pack up the car and find the sunscreen, we’ve compiled a list of 5 fun, family activities for you to enjoy in Okotoks for Canada Day long weekend.

1. Okotoks Art Council Decorated Bike Parade

Where: Recreation Centre Curling Club

When: Saturday, July 1, 11am

Ride your decorated bike(s) down to the curling club and join in the parade or just come down to watch the fun. Prizes will be given for the best decorations and all ages are welcome.

 

2. All Day Kids Multicultural Event

Where: The Recreation Centre

When: Saturday, July 1, 11-3pm

Starting 11am there will be multicultural entertainment and children’s games, along with a bouncy castle. At 2pm there will be a cake cutting as well as food samplings from different countries 12:15-3pm.

 

3. Okotoks Dawgs vs. Swift Current 57’s

Where: The Seaman Stadium

When: Saturday, July 1, 7:05pm

Watch Okotoks favourite baseball team take on rivals, the Swift Current 57’s at the Seaman Stadium. The game starts at 7:05pm and is followed by fireworks immediately after the game.

 

4. Fireworks

Where: Riverside Park

When: Saturday, July 1, 10:30pm

At the Riverside Park you will be able to view the fireworks starting at 10:30pm. Bring a blanket, a picnic and make an evening out of it.

 

5. BBQ and Old Fashioned Games

Where: The Ethel Tucker Centennial Park

When: Sunday, July 2, 12-3pm

Make a full weekend out of it and join in for a BBQ and some old fashioned games for the whole family.
